DARK M STUDIO

DRONE VIDEO PRODUCTION & AERIAL FOOTAGES

Dark M Studio provides aerial photography and videography services in Luxembourg, eastern France, and wherever your projects take you. Whether it’s video, photography, or technical inspections, our drone pilots operate a diverse fleet of drones in strict compliance with all regulations.

Flying a drone over a construction site, a village square, or a film set isn’t something that can be done on the fly. Every mission requires advance preparation: analyzing the area, choosing a flight plan, and obtaining the necessary permits. It’s this behind-the-scenes work that ensures your shoot will take place as scheduled and won’t be canceled the day before due to a lack of authorization.

Trained and certified drone pilots

Flying a drone for commercial purposes requires much more than just a steady hand. Our remote pilot holds the CATS (Certificat d’Aptitude Théorique de Télépilote), the official examination set by the DGAC in France and the DAC in Luxembourg, which covers meteorology, regulations and mission preparation.

He has supplemented this theoretical foundation with practical training at the CFAD in Nancy, a certified centre, culminating in a certificate of competence for the two standard European scenarios:

STS-01 — flight within visual line of sight, in populated or controlled areas
STS-02 — flight beyond visual line of sight

Our drone cinematographer has also been trained at the CFAD in Nancy. During our shoots using a dual-control configuration, the pilot focuses on the flight path and safety, whilst the cinematographer concentrates on the image. This is essential for fluid movement and precise framing and it is what distinguishes a mere recording from a true cinematic shot.

We are registered as an operator on AlphaTango (France) and with the DAC portal (Luxembourg). Our unique European operator number is displayed on each of our aircraft, in accordance with European regulations.

We have drawn up our MANEX (Manual of Specific Activities), the mandatory document that formalises our safety procedures, our risk management on set and the register of our pilots and drones. We are covered by professional drone liability insurance, which is essential for any commercial activity.

For any flight in a populated area : in a town, on a closed-off street or in a public square, we submit a flight declaration to the prefecture (France) or the DAC (Luxembourg) at least five working days before filming.

Please bear in mind when planning: this five-working-day deadline cannot be shortened. If your project involves flying over a populated area, please contact us at least two weeks in advance. This is the number one cause of drone filming cancellations and the easiest to avoid.
